Richard Chase Mears, author of Anubis Rex/The Jupiter File, Ebb Of The River, The Bard Club, Naga Basa and the children's Book, Saint Nick and the Space Nicks.

Biography:
Richard Chase Mears was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1935. Following a lineage of sea captains and plantation owners, he was well schooled in Southern tradition. Tragedy in his early life sent him into seclusion where he sought refuge on the Chesapeake estuaries and particularly on the Patuxent River. Here he acquired a deep knowledge and love for the river, its wildlife and the woodlands. Sensing his pending academic doom, his father sent him to a private boys' school taught by Jesuits in the classic tradition. His restlessness and love of knowledge and adventure tore him from a traditional life in Baltimore. He joined the United States Air Force in Air Force Intelligence which took him around the world. When he settled after three years of experience and adventure he continued his education in writing and journalism at the Pennsylvania State University after which he ventured into New York City and explored the fields of film production and advertising (J. Walter Thompson Advertising Agency, a Mad Men experience where he met his future wife) and continued into investment management. In 1974 he became president of his own investment company in San Francisco and has since formed the company Richard C. Mears Inc. for film and novel production. His adventures have evolved into writing fiction: Ebb Of The River, Anubis Rex/ The Jupiter File, St. Nick And The Space Nicks (his first children's book), The Bard Club, Naga Basa and a fourth coming novel series Chardonnay Red/ Carlyle Blues.

The Bard Club

This is an American novel about five country children and a school-teacher who changes their lives and opens their minds through the writings of William Shakespeare. The story takes place during World War II (1944/1945) in the quaint fishing village of Solomons, Maryland. Teacher, Bessie McMath begins a log to record events of the town and of its people taken from the writings of her students through their interpretation of Shakespeare's works. The story ends when members of the Bard Club show their spunk and become national heroes due to a bizarre series of events that lead to the capture of a German submarine.

Naga Basa

On February 19, 1945, five months before the atomic bombs were dropped on Japan an invasion took place off the Burma coast on the island of Ramree where a slaughter took place by allied troops against Japanese defenses. Operation Matador was reported by Vice-Admiral Sir Arthur J. Power, Commander-In-Chief , East Indies Station, and appeared in the London Gazzette on Friday, 23 April, 1948. The news of this event had been buried due to the ending of WII., but once discovered and researched, this news was recorded in the Guinness Book of Records as the most people ever killed in a single action by an animal specie called Stinky Face, an event recorded as the greatest animal disaster ever. Naga Basa is a fictional adaptation of the human condition and of the horrors that surrounded the Ramree blood bath. This story reaches into the human psyche of death and introduces us to a new Mesozoic era, the Marasic Period of an evolved creature that people of the Malays call Naga Basa.
